Live-in or live-out Experienced Housekeeper & Experienced Chef Couple

Job ref - #PSA 355

Location – Near Aboyne Aberdeenshire

Start Date – February 2027

Live in or Live out

The Position:

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a reliable and experienced Housekeeper & Chef Couple to live and work on a beautiful estate on the banks of the river Dee in Royal Deeside.

This is a live-in or live-out long-term position for a discreet, proactive, and self-sufficient couple who would thrive in a beautiful Scottish rural setting and take pride in maintaining high standards for an evolving fishing estate and its guests.

The Estate

The estate is focused on fishing in the River Dee and the estate fishing pools. The guest accommodation consists of a Guest Lodge with 10 double en-suite bedrooms, a sitting room and dining room. There is also a cottage which can sleep up to 4 guests.

Responsibilities:

Housekeeper Duties:

Oversee and maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation   within the residences. Duties to cover the lodge, cottage and the private  3 bedroom house which the family uses when visiting. Duties will also  include the new ‘rod room’ to be completed in 2027

Manage all changeovers plus lodge and cottage presentation.

Responsible for cleaning and restocking

Assist the chef with food preparation and kitchen duties when  requested.

Working with the chef, table laying, serving and clearing. Ensuring  guests have all they need – anticipation to meet and exceed guests and VIP expectations.

Ensure guest areas are always impeccably presented.

Assist with laundry and linen management.

Ensuring all bedrooms are impeccably dressed for guest arrivals  including restocking hospitality trays and bathrooms are freshly stocked  with local products and toiletries.

Preparing the dining room for breakfast working with the chef to ensure all is ready for guest arrivals.

Chef / Handyman/Housekeeping Duties:

An awareness of property care is an advantage. The right couple will take pride in the appearance and details of the properties, creating an ongoing snag list of everything from paint chips to aesthetic opportunities to keep things in beautiful working order.

· The estate is looking for hands-on people who are happy to fix things when they can and have good relationships with local suppliers where needed.

Identify and report any maintenance or repair issues promptly.

Set fires when needed.

Check on overall property on a regular basis to check for water ingress or signs of a problem needing attention.

Chef duties

An experienced talented chef is required to excel in the cooking and presentation of meals for Lodge guests – could be up to 20 if the lodge is full. Working as a team at mealtimes with the Housekeeper.

Prepare cooked breakfast using local produce

Introduce interesting, varied menus using local produce where possible to cater for Lodge guests evening meals and work with the Housekeeper to provide a table service to ensure the meals are a memorable event – which will hopefully provide positive feedback, social media reviews and return visits.

It is hoped the chef can (over time) introduce and setup a pre order catering service to the fishing and cottage guests and (if time permits) batch cook food that can be left in the cottage fridge for first night arrivals. The cottage guests are usually on a self-catering basis, but the estate feels that this extra package plus the addition of optional (basic) breakfast/picnic packages could add value to both guests and the Estate.

To offer packed lunches when required or a bbq at the ‘Upper hut’ (a beautiful architect-designed hut on the river), for lodge guests when required (this would be limited to a certain number of days per booking)

Working with the Housekeeper at all times to maximise guest engagement and enjoyment.

Joint Responsibilities:

Working together to enhance a unique guest experience

Maintain regular communication with estate owners regarding ongoing maintenance, schedules, and updates.

Monitor inventory of supplies and report as necessary.

Full, checkable references from previous employers.

A couple happy to roll up their sleeves and help wherever needed

· Highly organised and totally flexible approach to each day

We are looking for a couple that have a love of Scotland and would  love the challenge of helping to increase visitors based on their  experience of your hospitality and cooking skills.

An experienced couple who would enjoy the challenge to provide a warm and professional welcome to all the Estates guests.

Happy to work with a flexible attitude to days worked when busy who can maximise time off during quiet periods

Accommodation: 1-bedroom flat if live-in is required – the  accommodation is small with a double bedroom, small bathroom and separate  sitting room and a separate entrance from the main lodge but in the same building.
