ESTATE RE-ENGINEERING
Our consultant has many years of experience taking his own traditional country Estate from an outsourced agency management plan to an in-house management team. Hands on management of the entire traditional mixed agriculture estate which included livestock, arable enterprises, forestry, commercial and residential properties. He also managed the more formal side of the estate gardens to allow and cater for the public visitors, to create and oversee new spaces to include a café and running of a large biomass district heating system.
He has managed over 60 estate properties with the nuance of increasing rental values while balancing the traditional aims of maintaining the fabric of a rural community.
He has overseen all forestry operations across all his 850 acres of predominantly broadleaf forestry with his forestry team. This included working with a forestry advisor to submit woodland management plans, felling licences and woodland tree health grants to replant after significant ash felling.
Our consultant ran all elements of his estate shoot for four years, hosting 20 let and syndicate days a season.
His farming enterprise has also seen significant change with a trebling of sheep numbers and move to outdoor lambing with a closed Romley flock, now fully integrated with the arable enterprise enabled by a new CSS mid-tier scheme.
He was responsible for overseeing budget management and strategic decision making and implementation, presenting a biannual progress report to a Board of Trustees. In seven years, he has nearly doubled the income generated across the entire estate. This has involved overseeing a change in rental policy, borrowing against the core asset to invest in off- estate commercial property, restructuring the farming enterprise, initiating a new tourism and leisure enterprise and hosting various events.
A large part of his role has involved external stakeholder engagement, including the local community.
His estate has partnered with several national and local organisations such as National Trust, Royal Agricultural University, and has had several conservation successes.
He has now appointed an Estate Manager to oversee the entire estate and is now looking to bring his expertise to owners of private houses and estates to advise and direct their operations to maximise their potential, minimise waste and increase profitability.
An initial enquiry via our client enquiry page will be the first step to an introduction and we would be delighted to assist in this regard.
